Have an SPF-Filled Summer!

Sunscreen Beauty

Did you know that skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the United States?

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, more than 3.5 million skin cancers in over two million people are diagnosed annually. We don’t mean to burst your summer bubble, but aside all the glam, style and fun, mini kittour wants to make sure you are taking care of your skin while “having fun in the sun”.

It is important to apply and re-apply sunscreen when you are outdoors. A lot of beauty and skin care brands are also helping us out by adding SPF into their formulas. From lip balms to moisturizers, protecting our skin from the sun’s harmful rays is now easier to remember during our morning beauty routine or mid-day touch-up. Here are some other useful tips to keep you safe from the sun this summer:

  • Keep a travel-sized sunscreen in your purse to re-apply throughout the day.
  • Buy a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face from the sun.
  • Wear sunglasses.
  • Swap regular foundation to a tinted moisturizer with SPF for the summer.

Summer Beauty Face-Off: Natural vs. Bright

Summer became official as of yesterday and while some of us are planning our outdoor adventures, others are planning our makeup looks. This year’s summer beauty trends range from thick eyebrows to neon eye shadows. And while we are always playing with our makeup, there is the essential summer look we like to stick to – which do you prefer?

NATURAL

Depending on how daring you are, this look can be accomplished using zero to minimal beauty products. Using a concealer, make sure to cover up any spots and flaws. You can then apply your favorite BB cream or a tinted moisturizer. Add a bit of color with some sheer blush and finish off with mascara and lip gloss.

BRIGHT COLORS

Perhaps not worn all at once, bright hues are trending this season for a fun, flirty look. Whether its a bright liner, bright lips or bright nails, add a bit of pop to your everyday look.

Do you prefer sticking to natural only or are you ready to bring out the color?

Tips by Vonda: Fast Airport Security Check

Security-Check Friendly Footwear
As you know, I am constantly traveling and have become familiar with all security check regulations. Traveling has become a lifestyle for me and while it can sometimes become tiresome, I always travel with style.
I LOVE SHOES! And don’t like to trade in my Louboutins for raggedy flip-flops because of airport security shoe screening.
The TSA instituted mandatory shoe screening as an additional security measure and is an effective method of identifying any type of “anomalies”, including explosives. Screening shoes increases security at the checkpoint.
To avoid getting setback while going through security, remember these few airport security travel tips:
  1. Wear fashionable and comfortable shoes that you can easily take off and put back on: sandals, ankle boots, wedge heels, flats.
  2. Remove shoes BEFORE entering the screening technology. This allows you to go in and out and back to your travel experience.
  3.  Put shoes directly on the belt to go through the X-ray machine instead of in a bin with other items. It is safe and easy, and gives officers a better look while they go through the x-ray.
